Learning Digital Photography Level Four - Flash • Lighting • Metering |
|
|
Now that you know how to use your camera and compose your images and handle your camera well enough to get it all done, you need to know how to use the light you have or supplement it with flash.
The first 3 hours (the first 2 days) of this Class are in the classroom, then we'll take the next 3 hours (the last 2 days) on the road getting hands-on practice with what you've learned. Class size is significantly limited to assure personalized attention when we are out shooting.
What you'll learn in this class
In this seminar we'll talk about getting the exposure you want with the available light, and how to use flash to illuminate your subject or to supplement to available light. We will also spend a good deal of time dealing with metering your light to be sure you're going to get a proper exposure.
Here's some of the many topics we'll discuss:
- Measuring Light and Light Meters.
- Handling low light problems with flash.
- Reflecting your flash or the available light.
- Bouncing and diffusing flash.
- Adding color to your subject.
- Using filters to enhance your image.
This is just an outline of the topics we'll discuss. We'll discuss how you can get the light you need where you need it to get the shots you're after. You'll have the opportunity to get your questions answered in a way that will be meaningful.
We're going to talk about photographing your friends and family, your pets, your car, your house, nature, and just about anything that you might want to photograph. If you have a camera I encourage you to bring it along so you can get practice on your own camera as we move through these topics. If you have a tripod you should bring it too. There are times where you'll want to do shots where you'll need that stability. This is also a good time to bring your flash and reflectors if you have them.
Please come prepared with a notepad as you may want to take notes on some our discussion. Be prepared to be outside for 3 hours over the last 2 days of the Class (weather permitting) and dress appropriately. If the weather does not cooperate with us we'll do our hands-on practice indoors.
This Class will run 4 nights, for 1½ hours per day.
Class starts at 6:00 each evening and will end around 7:30. Our evenings out on the road to shoot will be meeting at locations to be announced during class.
